Is it just me, or does it seem like in today's world, churches and even some christians seem to put more emphasis on religion and/or denomination, than they do on worshiping Christ? I guess i need to explain a little. I go to a baptist church in south western part of Mississippi, and i have been a member there for 8 yrs or so. Like i said in my 1st post, i am the youth minister there. (and i love that part of it) We worship a regular way i guess, older fashion way, where we sing from the hymnals with a pianist and organist playing along. No one gets real excited during singing time such as hands raised in the air, emotions running or nothing like that. Kinda just plain jane worshiping.(like on the movie foot loose..lol) When i took the youth to the student life camp in june, it was amazing. Contempary christian music, (actually "Fee" was playing all week) ppl just feeling free to just worship any way they wanted. I watched thousands of kids let their guard down and just give all they had to God. Have to admit when i finally let go myself and just put it all out there, it was a undescribeable feeling. I probably felt the presence of the Lord in that building we were in more than i ever had at my home church. And i think the reason being is that for the first time in a long time, worship was put first. Not being proper or worshiping a proper way. No one looking at you with that "are they wearing that here look" or "why did they come here". Not sure why i am even writing about this, it was just put on my heart to share. I believe that if we would all put more emphasis on worshiping God than putting it on religion or denomination, the end result would be more rewarding. Maybe i am typing it here until i get enough courage to stand in front of the entire church i go to and tell them this myself. I have never been to heaven, but i know it says we will be worshiping and praising our Heavenly Father for eternity. And i bet there it will not matter your religion, only praising him will be important. Any way just wanted to share stuff on my mind, thanks for listening... Much love to you all!!!! Brandon

Hello all.. My name is Brandon, im 30 yrs old, married with 2 wonderful children. I just found this site yesterday and decided to join. It is nice to see a site where christians can get online and talk. I'm a youth minister for my church and i was actually looking for skits to do for my youth to put on for ppl. They are a great bunch of kids who are really starting to be on fire for Jesus and I have been looking for stuff for them to do so that fire stays lit. We went to youth summer camp in June and that was a blast, but the minute we got home from that spiritual high, that darn satan attacked us a little. So now its back to putting my logs on the fire and getting the kids re fueled. Anyway, happy to have found this site and hope to make some great new friends.
